The Shield Kneeling Leg Curl is a precision isolation machine designed to target the muscles of the anterior chain, specifically the hamstrings. This is accomplished by kneeling on the 2.25-inch-thick knee pad with one leg and using the other to operate the primary armatures.
Once you are done training one leg, the 14-by-6-inch knee pad pivots easily from side to side, and, thanks to its innovative rotational design, cannot slip mid-exercise. The four pads: the arm pad, the abdominal pad, and the knee pad are all 2.25 inches thick so that while you work, you can do so in comfort.
The Shield is plate-loaded and features two 10.75-inch sleeves. This means it can fit 8 plates the size of our 45-pound Olympics on each side, making the Shield’s loadable capacity 350 pounds, but that can be increased with chains and elastic bands.
