A chinning-bar cable attachment is one of three must-have attachments for gym owners with cable machines and functional trainers, the other two being the cable handle and the lat pull-down bar.
Chinning bars are primarily used to train the muscles of the back, shoulders, and arms through a variety of pulling motions.
Attach your chinning bar attachment to a cable that offers vertical resistance for a neutral grip (palms facing each other) pull-downs. Attach it to a cable that offers horizontal resistance to perform rows, two compound exercises that engage all the muscles in the back, but especially the latissimus dorsi and the biceps.
