Question:
How does this compare to the Fettle Fitness Pendulum Leg Press? Similar footprint and price point.
Answer:
Hey George,
The biggest difference is going to be the lack of a forward counterweight which makes the motion easier. Fettle has that. Ours is heavy enough that you won’t have to worry about stability. Notice we’ve put a support beam there instead. Ours also has three storage horns on the back. Fettle is assuming you have somewhere else to store your plates.
Something we do like about the Fettle Pendulum is that cool/adjustable backstop that flips up to give you another foot of stopping space. Ours is shorter but adjustable through a lockpin. The angle of the footplate is different. They’re at 140. We’re at 130. That's not good or bad. It just depends on your preference. The higher angle gives you more space to put your feet on the floor, but not A LOT more space, probably 2 or 3 inches. Our is taller by 4 inches, our footplate is wider by 12 inches (giving you more positioning options), but their pendulum press is longer than ours (79 inches vs. our 71 inches).
From what we’ve seen, the stuff from Fettle looks great, but we can’t really tell you the specs. The website says it’s a mix between 8 and 11-gauge steel which is perfect for a machine like this. I’m not sure what paint they use, but ours is chip-resistant powder black. I also think ours looks cooler and has a better name, but of course I'm going to say that. We are very much biased in favor of the Phoenix.
Honestly, depending on where you are in the continental United States, the real deciding factor may be shipping costs. Send us an email with your zip code at ask@boltfitnesssupply.com, and we'll get you a custom quote.

Question:
What is the working weight of the pendulum unloaded? Not the machine total just when working.
Answer:
I don't have an exact number for you, but I just used it, Christian, and it FEELS like 30 pounds. I asked Brian (my co-worker from the showroom floor) to try it too, and he says 30-35 pounds.

Question:
Will the foot plate become adjustable in the future?
Answer:
Hey there Dustin. We have no plans (as of yet) for an adjustable pendulum squat.
True, the footplate on this platform does not adjust. However, the sheer size of the footplate (31 inches by 31 inches) gives you a wide variety of foot placement options.
