RONIN ADJUSTABLE BILATERAL PLATE LOADED LAT PULLDOWN

The word ronin refers to masterless samurai of feudal Japan, but its literal translation means a man who is unrestrained like a wave in water. That kind of freedom of movement was something we privileged in our Ronin. The first thing you notice as you reach up to grip the handles is that they rotate 360 degrees and are attached to a bar that swivels up to 90 degrees, offering the user an unparalleled variety of hand positions. If that were not enough, two pull-pins on the overhead bar allow athletes to cycle between 26 positions that can move the handles as close to each other as 13 inches or as far away as 42.

Besides offering unparalleled freedom of movement as far as hand positions are concerned, the Ronin is uncommonly easy to sit on. The 2.5-inch thick upholstery means that the broad 10-inch by 20-inch seat is uniformly comfortable, and the antimicrobial tear-resistant synth leather all but guarantees undying durability. Like the handles, the seat is adjustable. A pull-pin on the bottom right of the seat allows you to cycle through 10 inches of forward/backward positioning, and the leg rest itself has its own pull-pin that cycles through 5 ports (6 inches) of vertical adjustment.

The Ronin’s weight capacity is extraordinary, truly monumental; two 14-and-a-half-inch horns are welded to the primary armature at a slight tilt to better hold the weight plates you load onto it. There is enough space here for twenty 45-pound plates (ten on both sides), each of them the size of our cast-iron Olympic plates for an upward capacity of 900 pounds, and we made sure the Ronin could do it too by building the platform with 7, 11, and 14-gauge steel construction and double-seam welds so that it holds together under extremely heavy lifts and the rigors of a 24-hour full-use commercial gym.
