Gym Spotlight: Rise & Grind Gym

RING DING-DING-DING CRASH BOOM BANG

That's the sound of your alarm.

It's time to wake up. You don't need to be at work for three hours, but you're a savage, and sleep is the cousin of death.

Rise and Grind.

That's the name of the game, as well as the name of the facility we’ll be featuring today: Rise & Grind Gym. Some of the baddest bodybuilding athletes on the planet have already stopped through and confirmed that, yes, this gym needs to be on your radar.  And if you think I'm exaggerating, read my blog (please) and find out.

Meet Lazaro Garza

The man with the plan and the proud owner of Rise & Grind Gym located at 8301 Braniff Street in Houston, TX right behind Hobby Airport. Lazaro had his sights set on one thing: heavy duty commercial grade fitness equipment, the type of equipment that wouldn't flinch at the sight of IFBB Pros and preworkout dryscoop bros.

Fast forward one short ride down the street and Lazaro is stepping foot into Bolt’s legendary 22,000 square foot Houston showroom located at 6415 Allegheny Street where he was able to see Bolt’s epic collection of masterfully designed fitness pieces firsthand.  A few reps later and Lazaro knew -

Bolt has his back.

And while the rest is history there is much worth noting about this collaboration between Bolt Fitness Supply and Rise and Grind.  The first is that Rise & Grind is exclusively equipped with Bolt equipment.  Not only does this make Lazaro’s gym extremely badass looking but this means there is not one underserved muscle, squeaky pulley nor cookie-cutter commercial piece in the entire facility. So if you’re looking to put a beating on some Bolt equipment and see what all the fuss is about, Rise & Grind Gym is the place to be.

But don't just take my word for it.

Terrence at Rise & Grind

Yes, Terrence Ruffin, IFBB Pro, 2x Arnold Classic Champ, and professional riser and grinder, trained there. And in case you missed it, we filmed a video of his leg training day at Rise & Grind Gym.  Watch as Terrence blesses us mortals with both valuable pro level insights while simultaneously highlighting some of the unique Bolt pieces that you can expect to find at Rise & Grind Gym.

The Hydra

The Hydra, as the name suggests, is a beast.  But not just any beast this is an adjustable leg extension seated leg curl combo kind of beast. And while this is a relatively standard piece you will find in many commercial gyms, there is only one Hydra, except that Rise & Grind has two.  That’s right Lazaro got two Hydras so you don't need to wait for that one person who looks at their phone between sets to get your pump on.

I’ll conclude with this: Terrence says that the Hydra is the best adjustable leg extension leg curl combo machine he has ever used. I rest my case. Rise & Grind doubled up on The Hydra for good reason.

The Midas

Turn your quads into gold with this hack squat, or at least watch Terrence walk you through the safe and effective way to use The Midas for max quad output.  With three plates on either side, six in total, watch how when Terrence is ready to pull the eject cord a simple and intuitive rotation of the two self safety spotting mechanisms locks him into safety. When the owner of Bolt talks about years of refinement, he’s referring to the intentional, team-driven tweaks that elevate these machines beyond the standard build.

Meet Hunter Labrada

Oh wait, you already know Hunter because he’s another IFBB heavyweight who's been a fixture in the scene since Arnold was saving the world from robots. Perhaps that's an exaggeration but I’m a writer and here’s the point:

Hunter is the man,

especially when it comes to biomechanical education and maximizing every rep. His partnership with Bolt isn't just hype, its validation, but that's another flex for another day.  Today’s flex is all about Hunter Labrada at Rise & Grind Gym demonstrating the ins and outs of what an epic arm day training session looks like.

Arm Day at Rise & Grind

For Hunter it all starts with single arm pushdowns on Bolt’s Hurricane 8 station Jungle Gym. Smooth cables, quiet pulleys, tons of variation and eight 200 lb weight stacks, and while it's not rocket science when it’s done right it's unbeatable.

Rise & Grind did not get the 4-station jungle gym, they didn't get the 5 station jungle gym either. They got the 8 stations.  What that means is when you pull up to Rise & Grind with four homies, your two cousins and their neighbor’s sister, everyone has a spot on the Hurricane. You can thank Lazaro when you see him.

Step one: Rise, Step two: Grind

The snooze button no longer exists in your vocabulary.

Bolt designed the equipment.  Lazaro gave you the space.  Terrence and Hunter shared the wisdom.

What are you waiting for?
