Gym Prose: Pro Physique Gym

Disclaimer:  This Gym Prose Blog is the result of a recent declassification of documents directly from the desk of the Bolt Fitness Supply CEO.  The name, dates, and equipment below have not been obscured in order to promote the exceptional products and services that Bolt Fitness Supply provides to a global community.

Declassified Document #1, 20:00:

I was in my garage gym hanging upside down from my Storm Series 43" inch 11 gauge multi-grip pull-up bar on my Beast Smith Functional All-In-One Rack reading the new Tom Clancy novel when I got the call.  Oscar: “At 06:00 hours we travel by land to Arizona to hand deliver a very important package to a very important client.  This is a get-in-get-out operation.  I need clean, reliable work, do you accept this mission?”  I reply in the affirmative and throw my phone out the window before it explodes.  Oscar is a 4-Star General in the Bolt Fitness Supply Army and has served multiple tours on Elm and Allegheny Street.  I had no choice but to accept this mission.  As I liberate myself from the inverted position all the blood rapidly flows from my head and I begin to feel faint.  Visions of desert landscapes, empty bags of chips, and fitness equipment flood my consciousness.  I see buff people.  I see jhooks, barbells, and excessive amounts of ketchup being applied to french fries.  Right before I completely collapse I grab hold of my 24” inch Zenith spotter arm attachment and regain my footing.  I need some rest.

Declassified Document #2, 06:00:

The day has not yet begun but beckons with potential. This is the calm before the storm. I pull into the dark parking lot at Bolt Headquarters (6415 Allegheny St, Houston, TX 77021) ready to receive the full briefing before our deployment.  Oscar Adame, Noel Banda, and Jackson Chamblee comprise this special operations unit. We’ve all been hand-selected by the big man up top because we know our positions and play them well.

Thanks to the recent declassification I can share our mission in higher resolution with you, my loyal reader.  We have been tasked with delivering a certain package to a certain someone at a certain location.  The package: Bolt’s highly coveted, exceptionally designed fitness equipment consisting of select pieces such as the Ronin Adjustable Bilateral Lat Pulldown, the Disciple Adjustable Vertical Leg Press, and the Storm Series Yeti Unilateral Leg Press, to name a few.  The certain someone: Damian Segovia, owner of Pro Physique Gym, home of 17 Olympia Titles, and personal trainer to the most competitive bodybuilding athletes in the world.  The location: Pro Physique Gym, located in Gilbert, Arizona, outside Phoenix, the destination of choice for the world's most wanted men and women —feared for their relentless disrespect of heavy weight and big lifts.

Declassified Document #3, 07:00:

The truck is loaded, the team is briefed, the keys are in the ignition and the wheels are in motion.  I am anxious to get this operation underway and relieved to be on the move.  If you are a reader of Gym Prose then you know what's missing in this equation.  Buc Ee's in Katy off I10.  The equation is simple: Gym Pros + long drive/massive install = Buc Ee's/ the amount of Gym Pros in the vehicle.  I accept the reality of this equation and don’t complain despite my anxiety to begin in earnest.  The Buc Ee's Katy stop is the equivalent of soldiers cleaning their guns or knights sharpening their blades.  This is why Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders visit the troops abroad.  This is more than material, this is morale, camaraderie, and why man does not live off bread alone.  After thousands of miles with the Bolt team, I have come to understand this fact.  No delivery/install begins at a caloric deficit, and we do not not collect Buc Ee's merch and purchase Buc Ee's gas before going into battle.  Every great team has a huddle and a prayer before the big game and like the true Texans we are this is ours.

We drive due west, I10 all the way, the sun pierces the windshield and right into our eyes for 10 hours straight as we pass through San Antonio, Kerrville, and Fort Stockton. I do not falter because I wisely purchased beaver-shaped sunglasses from Buc Ee's this morning in anticipation of this reality.  Driving the length of Texas is always a spectacular experience.  I once met a man in San Antonio who called this God’s country and it's not hard to see why.  Like a moth to the flame, I suppress the impulse to jump out of the truck and experience these landscapes more intimately.  The urge wanes however as the sun begins to set and we cross through El Paso into New Mexico.  I am proud to report that I did not jump out of any moving vehicles while on this trip.

Declassified Document #4, 19:00:

The team retires for the evening in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  We haven't broken stride since Buc Ee's and it's time to hit the proverbial hay.  Listening to Corridos all day while being visually inundated with epic southwestern landscapes gives one plenty to meditate on lying in bed at the end of the day.  I can't believe it was only last night I had premonitions of vast, open country, summiting mountains of chips and here I am at the La Quinta in Las Cruces feeling prophetic.  I do my best to summon visions of tomorrow’s success but I fall asleep before seeing what the day will hold.

Declassified Document #5, 06:00:

Day two and the road waits for no man, woman nor Gym Pro. The tension in the truck mounts as we cross state lines for the last time into Arizona.  All-knowing Google Maps helps us with the final push: left turn, right turn, gira a la derecha, your destination approaches on the left in 500 feet, 200 feet… This is the moment when James Bond is about to parachute out of the plane to fight the baddest bad guy.  This is the moment we’ve trained for, this is where hard work meets talent, and talent outworks hard work etcetera.

Declassified Document #6, 11:00:

“You have arrived at your destination”: Pro Physique Gym in Gilbert, Arizona.  Noel backs in and the truck door rises letting the warm Arizona sun fall on the cold, matte black powder-coated steel that Bolt equipment is forged from.  The Phoenix Pendulum Squat receives first light and reflects none of it back as if charging its batteries to bless a profound lower body workout to its new users.  Mr. Damian Segovia meets us at the truck and gifts us each a firm handshake.  This is what we do it for.

His team and ours collaborate in carefully removing each piece of equipment and placing it strategically inside Damian’s bodybuilding mecca.  I sense apprehension amongst our unit in handing these pieces over but this is what we signed up for.  There is no more appropriate home for these Bolt Fitness pieces than the Pro Physique Gym (home of 17 Olympia titles).  Under the wise tutelage of Damian Segovia I know we’re leaving this equipment in good hands.

Declassified Document #7, 14:00:

As we steer course for Houston there is relief in the air.  A weight has been lifted and I am not referring to the 5,000 lbs of fitness equipment we just unloaded.  This mission represents the culmination of a decade-long vision to provide the most competitive athletes in the world the best fitness equipment to train on.  Bolt Fitness Supply has been putting top athletes to the test for years but there was something special about hand-delivering this equipment to a facility as reputable as Pro Physique Gym.  For Bolt, this is the equivalent of a new personal best being achieved, like putting another two 45 lb Olympic Shadow Bumper Plates on your Onyx Zinc-Coated Barbell and smashing yesterday’s personal best.  We were chosen for this mission and we achieved what we set out to do.  I let this and other thoughts simmer all the way home as we drove East back to the city of Houston, Texas, home of Bolt Fitness Supply.
