A lat pull-down cable attachment is one of three must-have attachments for gym owners with cable machines and functional trainers, the other two being the cable handle and the chinning bar.
Lat pull-down bars are primarily used to train the muscles of the back, shoulders, and arms through a variety of pulling motions. Attach your lat pull-down bar to a cable that offers vertical resistance for pronated grip (palms facing down) lat pull-downs or to a cable that offers horizontal resistance to perform wide grip rows, two compound exercises that engage all the muscles in the back, especially the latissimus dorsi and the biceps.
